I am a little stunned at the lack of Supernatural panels at MediaWest*Con 29. The show’s ratings are up, and there are a number of fanzines publishing this year.

FRIDAY
1-2pm, University 3: Supernatural: Season 4 discussion.
[Check out the video premiers at 8pm; there were quite a few good SPN entries last year]

SATURDAY
4-5pm, University 1: Supernatural: How are the many ways this series can end? Let's explore the possibilities.

SUNDAY
10-11am, University 2: Supernatural: A look at the current state of the brothers' relationship
3-4pm, Ballroom D: Supernatural hurt/comfort fic recs: share your favorites.

Premiering fanzine information available here.

A bunch of things besides actual interest in Supernatural may be a root cause of fewer panels.

Programming at MW can easily be affected by a very few people, especially with the even later then usual PRs. The mechanics of panel creation could also be a cause. A majority of panels are suggested by a minority of people, with sometimes a dozen or more panels being requested by just 1 person. If one or two of the regular suggesters decides not to attend, you will have huge drop in the apparent interest in that person's fannish genre.

Also, I think that a lot more people have opted out of this year's con, mostly because of the economy, but the chaos at host hotel isn't helping. If fewer people suggest panels, then more panels are taken from the people who suggest tons, because they have to fill up all of the time slots. So suddenly you have conflicts of 2 Who panels in one time.
