Opinions on The Maze Runner Series?

penfold_xLast year I read The Maze Runner. I read through it very quickly and enjoyed it (with the exception of one element of the ending). I moved on to The Scorch Trials but got bogged down about 100 pages in. Tell me, YA dystopia fans, is it worth slogging through this section to move on? Are the other books in the series as enjoyable as the first?
