The Vampire Emo

I caught one of those Anne Rice vampire movies this afternoon. I'm not sure at all what the big deal is.

So, there's this vampire, Lestat. And he's what, all emo? Awww, eternal life is sooooo lonely. My evil mentor abandoned me. I wrote a song about it. Wanna hear it? Hear it goes!

That's the appeal? You're kidding right? He's a mopey goth with superpowers. Whoopie.

And then some ancient vampire shows up, awakened by the power of Lestat's big emo song. Meanwhile Lestat is trailed by some groupie/trainee Watcher, who eventually wears him down with the power of her persistant boringness into making her his eternal companion. Oh, and there are all these other vampires, and they dress like a UN convention. I'm not sure what they do, but they don't make it interesting, for sure.

(I skipped some of it to fold my laundry, but I'm pretty sure I didn't miss anything important.)

So, what am I missing?

you missed the one with Brad Pitt and the best acting Tom Cruise has ever done (not saying much) which was *the other* Anne Rice vampire movie. The one you saw was the worse one.

Ah, I thought there was more than one. But if it's just Lestat going all emo again, I'll skip it.

OTOH, I cleansed my palate with a viewing of Buckaroo Banzai last night. Now there's a movie that gets better with each viewing. *wink*
