Stargate Atlantis Canceled

Via [livejournal.com profile] wraithfodder, SciFi makes another crap programming decision. And just when I was developing a fannish interest.

Perhaps those who have been following the behind-the-scenes stuff for this show have a better idea of the whys, but I'm baffled. In my opinion, SciFi's development department has not been doing well recently (Flash Gorden? Scare Tactics? Wrestling?). BSG is done. The buzz for Caprica is not that good, and my other favorite show on SciFi is BBC's Doctor Who, which is not producing a regular season next year. What's left on the slate? Weak development ought to mean that bubble shows live to see another year. And my understanding was that Atlantis's ratings were fairly solid. What gives (except that the execs at SciFi are morons)?

I lost all faith and most interest when they made SuperCroc.
I think they'll lean on the shows that their parent/sister companies have and are producing - like Heroes (NBC)

I just can't see where else they'd go. I used to be tuned 24/7 to that channel (except for early weekend when they had no programing save for infomercials and the odd evening when Cartoon Network nad something I couldn't miss). I cn honestly say that it's been a very long time since I tuned to it on purpose or even stayed more than a few minutes while surfing through.

so sad!

What was once the cutting edge in SciFi had now dulled and turned out to be a knock-off ginsu all along

well that s*cks. rats. i have to say, SGA has never been quite as strong in my heart as SG1, but i still like it alot. Bummer. I have no idea why they'd cancel it, good grief, at Comic Con last year the actors were all over the place and the promotional stuff was everywhere, I thought they were putting a lot of support behind it. Sheesh. I'm really surprised by this. Oh well. And I agree--the execs at SciFi are morons!
