Oh, sure. The bee thing is an import from the ACD canon; it has not yet been used in Sherlock canon. Around 1903 or 04, Holmes retired to a cottage on the South Downs of Sussex, where he divided his time between beekeeping and philosophical pursuits. The retirement and beekeeping is first mentioned in The Second Stain. ACD published one story where Holmes solves a case on his own during this time, The Lion's Mane. In the canonical final case, His Last Bow, Holmes mentions that he has written a book on his work with the bees, Practical Handbook of Bee Culture, with some Observations upon the Segregation of the Queen. Laurie R. King has written the popular Mary Russel series of pastiches set in this time period, starting with The Beekeeper's Apprentice (I haven't read them; the premise stikes me as very Mary Sueish).
