Aug. 13th, 2006 05:25 pmI finally had a chance to catch up on some of the shows that have been languishing on my TiVo.
Life on Mars
obelix is right; this is truly a wonderful series: tragic, comic and beautiful. I wasn't born in '73, so I don't have actual memories to compare to, but the characters look just like old family photos. It is fascinating to watch an illumination of just how much life has changed in 35 years, of how much we take for granted (and, helpfully, to see it through the eyes of someone similarly shocked). It probably has more resonance for Brits, but it's still a romp. I'm not sure where they're going, but I'm enjoying the ride.
Doctor Who (Eccleston)
Bit touchy-feely, this incarnation. The Sixth Doctor should pop in and deliver a severe ass kicking. And Rose, good grief! The wife-beater tee, the black eyebrows and peroxide hair. Standards for companionship have fallen. At least they kept the ghetto special effects.
Eureka
Yawn.
