Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] sg1scribe for alerting me to the start of the third season of Ashes to Ashes. I was afraid, from the S2 finale, that we'd be stuck back in 2008, so I was terribly pleased we were back in the 80s before the 10th minute. I'm pleased with nearly all the developments -- some growth (and approval) for Ray, Shaz finding her own strength, another new character with ambiguous origins and motives, and the clear promise to tell us what the heck happened to Sam Tyler and why Gene Hunt is at the center of all this.



Heck, yeah, people! I loved this moment. This is also the 30-second encapsulation of why Labor's bid to portray David Cameron as Gene Hunt was such a bad idea, particularly given Britain's crime problem. Hunt is a politically incorrect throwback, but he's also effective, strong, and well, pretty cool. Adjectives I can tell you I never paired with Cameron before reading about the ad. I'm not surprised the Conservatives immediately turned that around:
