Maggie's got more balls than all of them.

Really loved this focus on Ray. I am pleased the PTB have realized they've been neglecting Ray's growth (of the main character's he's the only one who was left almost the same person from Life on Mars through Ashes S2) and decided to do something interesting with him, that plays directly into his dynamic with Hunt. And Dean Andrews killed it.

I know [livejournal.com profile] sg1scribe sees it differently, but I thought it advanced the over all plot as much as a third ep was going to--the stars, the fade at the end on Ray (with Life On Mars!!1!), the recurrence of the dead policeman, the long queer looks from Keats, are enough to keep me intrigued. And we had gotten an awful lot of advancement in the first two eps--seemed unlikely we could keep up that pace for the whole of the season.

The political reading of Falklands War was peculiar (what, Britian's just supposed to stand by while a possession is invaded?). Seemed like juvenile "Tories did it so it must be evil" thinking, but Graham and Pharoah could write a paean to Stalin and I'd still probably watch it.

I've been a dedicated PBS viewer since Mr. Roger's Neighborhood but sometimes a bit of dialogue will totally escape me. This time, I'm not sure whether it's the accent, the slang, or the references to pop culture events I wasn't around for, but when Chris and Keats are in Keat's file room, what on earth are the stalking about: Stella Black? Scowzer? Wadded? What?

But there is one lingering mystery that I never get any insight into: why does Alex voluntarily wear 80s eye makeup?

I can only assume she hit her head really hard when she fell.
