"...I'm surprised you don't have a little purple space dog." "But then, I've always been able to see through you." Good Lord, did anyone else want the dreamlord to go on running down the Doctor, or was it just me?

I guessed Valyard, and feel pretty proud to have gotten so close. I was a bit irritated with the start of the episode, because I had hoped to put Amy's crush in the past; yet another companion-in-love-with-the-Doctor plot thread feels like three too many. But I realized once Rory uttered "we have to grow up" that Amy's crush is really about not growing up, as opposed to genuine attraction to the Doctor, i.e., that Amy is really Wendy, another girl with a fairy tale name who has to choose to leave childhood behind. (I'm sure everyone else got that two eps ago, but at least I'm here now.)

The village dream plot was very creepy but probably couldn't sustain an episode, but I'm glad the double dream/Valyard plotline was there to fill out the time and add complexity and interest to the terror. This is the first episode since the pilot that I felt was properly paced. Major kudos to Simon Nye and Cathrine Morshead. This is what I'd hoped a Moffat season would be like.
