So, I was cruising Tumblr (um, trying to figure out what it is... dude, don't even ask me about Tweeting), and I stumbled upon:

I've never worked with fondant icing before. Difficult, Y/N?

From what I see on Aces of Cakes, fondant looks like a terror.

But I wish you luck.

With milk.

Fondant icing is that really stiff icing that they roll out thin for very fancy cakes. It's great for cake decorating (more solid and workable than buttercream, which is tasty but like trying to mold whipped cream). A lot of people think it doesn't taste as good as buttercream, but I like it. And I would especially like to make little bitty John Watson sweaters out of it...

BTW, you have seen Sherlock, y/y?

OMG. I want to make these! Fondant icing can be homemade or can apparently be bought in a can (like pre-made frosting) and then tinted with food coloring. I know a few people that have worked with it before and apparently it's sort of like working with pie crust or playdo (you can't get it too warm or it goes too floppy and sticky). It then sets up like the frosting top on a Hostess cupcake or on a petit four.

PS Even crazier thought! You could make Sherlock with a sugar cookie base and John with a slightly darker sugar cookie (with a bit of brown sugar in it) and then you'd have John's tan. Tee-hee!
