AVOS's version of Delicious is so ugly, limited and unintuitive, I want to cry. Apparently, they kept all 885 of my bookmarks, but I'm only allowed to look at ten at a time. I can't get a full list of tags to appear on screen, just the tags used in the first ten bookmarks, so if I want to find something that isn't in that first ten tags, I have to page back. And page back. And page back. Because I can't look at more than ten bookmarks at a time. Why? Isn't the purpose of a bookmarking service to display bookmarks?

The ability to sort and access the hunderds of fanfic recs I've indexed over the past few years appears to be utterly lost. But I do have a spiffy new line drawing of a perky kitty-cat taking up 1/12 of my page. So, value-add there.

Ack, I haven't visited Delicious yet in months since its move. That is not good to know!

Fortunately, the export function still seems to be working, so you can back up your bookmarks and transfer them. I'm looking at Diigo and Pinboard.in as alternatives. Neither has all of the functions of Delicious, but since Delicious no longer has all of Delicious's functions, they're certainly better than nothing. :(

Seriously? When? How? What! Really?

Admittedly I was on there like a month and a half ago, but still it wasn't THAT long ago. Noooooooo.

Can we still download our bookmarks into the archived single HTML file? At least that way we might be able to take them and use them the way bookmarking intended them to be (be it offline and stupidly).

Grrrr.

I know. Apparently, the current users of Delicious are not the hip, young, tweety/tumblry crowd all cool kids want to hang with. One of the purchasers of Delicious actually said that the original version of the site was bad because it conveyed so much information. Unbelievable.

But, the export function does work. If you log in, then click on your name and go to "settings", there will be a column on the right called tools, in which you will find the export link. I exported my bookmarks in an HTML file. Then I opened an account at Diigo and imported the file following the link Diigo provided at the top of their homepage for everyone transitioning from Delicious. Diigo doesn't have 100% of old Delicious's functionality, but thus far it at least did a swift and accurate job of importing my bookmarks, which I can once again search by tags.
