Is it 9pm yet?

I'm off to Shore Leave this weekend. David Hewlett will be there, along with sister Kate. I suspect I will die of the cute. Jewell Stait is also appearing, as well as Keith DeCandido (the author of the first SPN tie-in novel, and the upcoming Bone Key). I plan to be at each of their talks, so if you have any questions about the upcoming season of Atlantis or the Supernatural tie-ins, drop a note in comments and I'll try to get an answer for you.

Anyone remember how K.Hanna had the boys solve the problem of the possessed lamp?

On second thought, nevermind.

Just put me on the list for a home visit--these possessed lighting fixtures can be serious business. This definitely calls for a professional.

My good friend Yum@ of Pyramids Press is announcing two new Supernatural print zines, The Brotherhood 4 and The Brotherhood 6, to premier on May 22 at MediaWest*Con 28.

Like last year’s The Brotherhood 2, The Brotherhood 4 and The Brotherhood 6 are all-Supernatural gen zines with a strong emphasis on the brothers’ bond of family and friendship. This project started as one zine, but with well over 500 pages of excellent stories, Yum@ had no choice but to split it into two zines. The Brotherhood 4 is 283 pages; The Brotherhood 6 is 296 pages. Both zines are professionally printed, perfect-bound, 6" x 9", with beautiful full-color, wrap-around cover art by Cathy. Though Pyramids Press works to get the look of zine as close as possible to something you'd buy at a bookstore, it is a nonprofit, labor of love produced by fans, for fans. Like all Pyramids Press zines, the stories are new (have not been previously published or appeared on the ‘net), gen (no slash), and there are no deathfics. Ratings are G-R.

US shipping is $4.80 per zine. Shipping to Canada or Mexico is $10 per zine. Shipping to Europe/Australia is $12 per zine. That Missing Number
So, where’s The Brotherhood 5? Oh, that’s coming out for MediaWest too! Like the other oddly numbered zines in this series, The Brotherhood 5 is a gen multimedia anthology, packed with stories from our favorite fandoms: Supernatural, Torchwood, Stargate Atlantis, Stargate SG-1, The Sentinel, Magnificent 7, and more! Complete details, story excerpts, and ordering information here.

My good friend Yum@ of Pyramids Press is announcing a new Supernatural print zine, The Brotherhood 2, to premier this week at MediaWest*Con 27.

The Brotherhood 2 is an all-Supernatural follow-up to last year's sell-out multimedia anthology, The Brotherhood 1. The zine is 420 pages, professionally printed, perfect-bound, 6" x 9", with beautiful full-color, wrap-around cover art by Cathy. Though Pyramids Press works to get the look of zine as close as possible to something you'd buy at a bookstore, it is a nonprofit, labor of love produced by fans, for fans. Like all Pyramids Press zines, the stories are new (not netfic), gen, and have a strong friendship/family focus. Ratings are G-R. As always, there are no deathfics.

Authors include new folks from Supernatural's LJ- and FF.net-based fandom as well as old Pyramids Press favorites, such as Kellifer, JennK528, Gaelicspirit, Happycabbage75, Kyriebess, Geminigrl11, Swanseajill, Blackwinged_bird, Tyranusfan, Kohadril, JJJunky, Brate, Jeanne Gold, Cathy, K. Hanna Korossy, Kaliope, and Yum@. Story excerpts are available here.

The Brotherhood 2 will be available for pick up at MediaWest*Con 27 (see con flyers for roomsale location). Unfortunately, there are no pre-orders for the con (it's just too complicated for Yum@ to do this year; thanks for your understanding). If you're not going to be at MediaWest, you can order a copy online to be shipped to you. The online order form is here. Cost is $32 US, $36 Canadian, $40 Europe/Australia. Orders will taken until June 15, and will ship June 25.

If you have any questions, you may write to Yum@ at sales [at] pyramidspress [dot] com. With MediaWest happening this week, please understand if her response time is a little slower than usual. If you have any trouble, let me know with a comment at my LJ or email me at penfoldx [at] gmail [dot] com, but bear in mind that I'll also be at MediaWest until next Tuesday.

Total Bliss!:
Returning shows snagging official pickups are laffers "Girlfriends" and "The Game" and dramas "Smallville," "Supernatural" and "One Tree Hill." CW picked up "Everybody Hates Chris" for a third season earlier this spring.

As expected, execs at the Green net Tuesday called the producers of "Gossip Girl," "Reaper" and a remake of Blighty family drama "Wild at Heart" (still untitled at the CW) to give them the good news. After some last-minute snags, comedy "Aliens in America" also got the go-ahead Tuesday afternoon.

I'm mildly bummed about the fate of Veronica Mars (which seems to be cancellation), but nothing can bring me down from my Supernatural high.

ABC's schedule is a bit of a yawn (Full Press Release). Most of their new shows appear to be frothy, female-oriented dramedies in the vein of Grey's Anatomy, a show I despise. I'm mildly interested in Pushing Dasies, a "forensic fairytale" about a man who can bring the dead back to life with a single touch (partly because Kristen Chenowith will support), and I'll give Big Shots a try just because Josh Malina is in it (though the premise, a sort of male Sex in the City, gives me hives).

And Cavemen? WTF?!

I'm happy Lost and Ugly Betty are back, but that's about as far as I see ABC and me developing our longterm TiVo relationship.
penfold_x: (huh? sir humphry)
What she said. I guess it's a fun game for some people: let's try to get a reaction out of the actor by shocking him (that's the only explanation I can come up with for Stargate fandom's bizarre obsession with the underpants question). Others perhaps can't get by just doing their own thing and need the actors/PTB to approve of their fannish interests.

LET. IT. GO.

This is the man's career. Everything's on the record. Let him entertain you, but not with a live hurt/nocomfort scene.
penfold_x: (chuck norris)
Fact: Blues Traveller front man John Popper was recently arrested for speeding and marijana possession. A search of the vehicle he was travelling in found:

1. four rifles
2. nine handguns
3. a switchblade
4. nightvision goggles
5. a taser

The weapons were hidden in specially-constructed secret compartments.

Logical Conclusion: John Popper is a Hunter.

So, what other celebrities are secretly battling supernatural evil? I'm putting money on Ted Nugent or Christopher Walken.

TITLE: Winchesters v. Evil
AUTHOR: K Hanna Korossy
RATING: PG-13, Gen
CHARACTERS: Sam & Dean
SPOILERS: First season, to be safe
SUMMARY: Evil has many forms. The Winchesters have always been ready to fight.
NOTES: I am not K. Hanna. Not in my wildest dreams. She's a friend and prolific author (archive). I begged her to write a little half-formed bunny, and fortunately, it fit right in with a series of vinettes she was working on. K. Hanna's not on LJ, and she's letting me release it here as an experiment. If you enjoy the story, please send feedback to irolany@yahoo.com (I'll send her all the comments, too, but LOCs are very welcome).

penfold_x: (past my bedtime)
Yes, many interesting things happened tonight. And the boys were their usual pretty selves. But I can't stop thinking about one aspect of this episode, and herein lies the rant:

ExpandBut He's A Nice Guy! )
penfold_x: (hug (sam and dean))
One of my favorite authors, K. Hanna Korossy, just finished her 100th Supernatural story! What does it say about a show when someone's muse is turned on that hard and that quickly? I'm constantly amazed by the energy of this fandom.

Only about 60 of K. Hanna's Supernatural stories are available on her website; some are reserved for zines, others are in editing, and still others just haven't been posted yet. However, she did put up three of my very most favorite of her stories: Worthy, Wealthy, and Wanted. They are a series of stories that follow on the events of Faith and explore the issues generated the wake of those events. K. Hanna has an amazing talent for building in lovely moments of friendship and character exploration. If you're searching for some quality gen h/c, give them a try.
