Cute Catching Fire Infographic

AMC has posted an absolutely adorable infographic introducing the 75th Quarter Quell victor-tributes. To my mind, a few of the victors got short shrifted (really, the first thing you'd say about Finnick is "A trident and net are his weapons of choice"?), but not District 3! Beetee and Wiress are the very cutest of all the victors (scientific fact, yo).

Date: 2013-10-19 06:31 pm (UTC)BTW, I was turned on to THG by your YA dystopia recs list. If you have any updates to your recommendations, I'd love to have them! The field is so crowded now, and I have limited time, so any thoughts are appreciated.

Date: 2013-10-20 02:37 am (UTC)Yes, right? The graphic indicates they got this from the Hunger Games wiki, which I think took that statement from the "tribute guide" book. I assumed that we were supposed to take that book as a bit of unreliable narrating, but um, OK, I guess.
BTW, have you seen this? The graphic has Brutus with a spear as his main weapon, and this clip also has him with it (taking out two targets rather impressively). I know he uses a spear at the Cornucopia battle in CF, but I really figured him for a sword as his signature weapon, with only using ranged weapons when necessary (because, frankly, I figure he was trained to put on more of a show than ranged weapons really give you the change to demonstrate). But I guess that's not where the movie's going to go. Huh.

Date: 2013-10-20 02:46 am (UTC)Yeeeeeah it looks like they're sticking with spear as primary a lot more than I would have for Brutus, probably because he only has a couple things in canon so they're kinda blowing them out of proportion? I have him as sword primarily with spear as range, but like you said, he would nooot be primarily ranged, not with that build. It would be a huge waste - you give range to someone like Marvel who's not built as impressively, etc.

Date: 2013-10-20 03:25 am (UTC)Somewhere in the background, Beetee and Wiress are FAILING TO LIGHT A FIRE USING MATCHES. Gosh, I wonder why that didn't make the reel of incredible badassery?

Aaaah, interesting thought. I noticed in several interviews with the secondary actors a lot of mention of how they were hoping to get this right because the fans are so invested in the story. Seems like that's a message coming from the PTB on down--get the details right so there's not a lot of complaining/backlash.

Date: 2013-10-20 03:30 am (UTC)lolololololololol omg I'm sorry >> Though actually on the real I'm kind of like, dude, we have gotten NOTHING of D11 since the casting, and I mean I know they don't play a huge role but could we at least get a screenshot? At least they have LINES, and Seeder makes an impression on Katniss ... I dunno.
Bruno Gunn said he made up a personal backstory for Brutus that informed how he played him (and that he identifies with him) and I was like GIVE IT TO MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE and he laughed and was all, yeah I knew you'd be all over that so maybe ONE DAY HE WILL TELL US. Because seriously, give it to me.

Date: 2013-10-20 03:37 am (UTC)Yes, please. I fear they are being cut for time--they're not visibly part of the super-alliance, and IIRC, even in the book we don't see how Chaff dies. It's a real shame (so many fics have done great things with these characters), but I suspect we're barely going to see them in the film. :(

WANT NOW.
Hrn. The secondaries are also being a little circumspect in their interviews (maybe PTB reminded them that a lot of people are going to go who haven't read the books). With statements like that, I really hope they open up a bit more in after the release.

Date: 2013-10-21 03:16 am (UTC)OMG, yes, Enobaria is a frightening combination of cute and scary! I'd put her in my pocket, if I weren't concerned she'd bite me.
